Formed in 2005, The Clinker Cup is a unique annual event, played at different courses from Spring through to Autumn.
With Handicaps adjusted after every round using the old CONGU system, and a list of only 20 players, the Clinker Cup adheres to the President’s adage, “Time spent on a poor golf course is time wasted”.
At the core of the competition is the infamous “Homma”, a pink golf ball obtained by any Clinker 3-putting a green. Being "The Homma" is costly in more ways than one.
A perpetual trophy, a jacket (pink) embroidered with their name, a $200 prize and most importantly, history await the winner of each Clinker Season. It's the not insignificant matter of amassing the most stableford points across their best 9 rounds for the season. Generous prizes for daily winners and NTPs are the norm.
The Clinker President's Cup is run in the off-season, whilst Clinker Tours to such destination as Barnbougle, Fiji and Hawaii continue to support the vast thirst all members have for social golf.
In addition to the Clinker "Originals," two additional Clinker cells have formed. In Newcastle, the Tinkler Clinkers, and in Melbourne, the Mexican Clinkers (also known as the Hombres).
The Clinker Cup also plays an annual match-play event, known as the “Slaughter” against its poor cousin, the Wombats.
Membership is by invitation only.
